Description
The Cucoloris, or light filter, is used to create shadow patterns on backgrounds or subjects. A uniformly lit wall can be transformed into interesting areas of light and shadow. Lighting directors frequently use it to simulate sunlight filtering through trees.
A Cucoloris, or “cookie,” is a traditional tool for creating more detailed patterns and shapes from light sources, helping to reduce the artificial look created by other sources. This is especially important when ellipsoidal lights are unavailable for projecting patterns with gobos.
The Cucoloris allows you to simulate any type of light filtering through tree branches, whether it’s the cool moonlight from an HMI, a radiant sunrise mimicked with tungsten lights, or other effects using RGB fixtures with special effects.
In more abstract applications, a breakup Cucoloris is appropriate for adding a soft texture to the light. For greater variety, the included bracket with an integrated 3/8″ pin can be removed and reinstalled in different configurations.
